The future of Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic is in doubt, as talks for a contract renewal remain stalled at the moment, with the player’s contract running out in June 2016.

The 30-year-old Slovenian international is considered one of the best shot-stoppers in Europe and has been attracting attention from big clubs.

As reported by the La Gazzetta dello Sport, the goalkeeper has been offered a contract renewal until 2018 with an improved salary. However, as the daily journal points out, Handanovic is not impressed with the team’s standings in the table and unlikely Champions League qualification.

Meanwhile Inter have registered interest from Roma and Barcelona, who are both in the market for a custodian, with an offer in the vicinity of €12 million reportedly being  satisfactory for club president Eric Thohir.

Should he leave, Inter are tracking several potential replacements, with Mattia Perin from Genoa being on top of the list. Other names considered are Marco Sportiello, Pepe Reina and Marseille’s Steve Mandanda, as well as Francesco Bardi, who is currently on loan from Inter at Chievo.
