Giampiero Ventura TorinoTorino coach Giampiero Ventura feels his side are now more mature and can become a great side, after their 1-0 win over Napoli on Sunday evening.

Kamil Glik was the hero for the Granata as his 69th minute header extended the club’s unbeaten run Serie A to 12 games, their best record since 1977.

“There is great satisfaction in having played as a team against Napoli after an important game against [Athletic] Bilbao 48 hours ago,” the tactician told Sky Sport Italia.

“We did well for 70 minutes, with seven of the eleven having played in Europe and already gave a lot of effort to get us on the right track.

“For the 12th match unbeaten in Serie A, and 14th including the Europa League, I must compliment the squad tonight who came onto the field to win with character.

“We prepared to meet both sides in a less aggressive manner. I have a group that was extremely helpful and I was not surprised but the result after the last two games Napoli played, but today we were more mature.

“The guys are able to read situations and it is normal when you have a new group time is needed, and when everything marries the cause becomes much simpler, and now the team is more mature.

“They are ready to become great.”
