A Sicilian Derby got out of hand during the week as Vittoria and Paterno were involved in a mass brawl.
The incident took place at half-time during an Eccellenza – Italian fifth tier – match with the referee having to abandon the game as too many players were handed red cards.
The players of Vittoria received a ban of 36 days, while those of Paterno were given 23 day suspensions. In addition, one of Paterno’s players was diagnosed with a cracked rib and collapsed lung.
