Inter legend and club vice president Javier Zanetti has admitted that the Italian club had high expectations for former striker Pablo Osvaldo, but stated that the Nerazzurri had no choice but to move on from the controversial player.

Osvaldo , who joined the Nerazzurri over the summer, recently left Inter recently following a physical confrontation with coach Roberto Mancini and teammate Mauro Icardi after a 1-1 Serie A draw with Juventus in January.

Zanetti stated that the Nerazzurri had high expectations for the player, but had no choice but to let him move to Boca Juniors.

“Pablo is a great player and I think he will do very well at Boca,” Zanetti told Radio de la Ciudad.

“We had high expectations from him, but they never materialized.

“At first he did well, then he had problems with Mancini and was no longer in the team. Too bad, because we were looking to him.

“He has understood our decision and joining Boca is the right decision.”
