Cagliari coach Zdenek Zeman has stated that AC Milan are no longer as good as the sides that contained Franco Baresi, Marco Van Basten and Ruud Gullit but are still individually superior to his own side.

Zeman is back for his second spell in charge of the Rossoblu this season having been sacked in December but has now taken the reigns again following the dismissal of Gianfranco Zola.

“Perhaps this Milan is not the team of Gullit, Baresi and Van Basten, but they’re still individually superior,” said the 67-year-old in his pre-match press conference.

The Czech coach oversaw a 1-1 draw with Empoli last week in his first game back and his side travel to San Siro to face the Rossoneri on Saturday evening.

“The team is calm and confident but that’s not enough,” he stated.

“We must try to improve by helping each other and playing together.”
