Serie A rivals AC Milan and Inter could spend the summer battling it out for the signature of on-loan Real Madrid striker Javier Hernandez.

The poacher is on loan from English Premier League side Manchester United, but it is believed that Los Blancos will decline the chance to make the move permanent, alerting two of Serie A’s biggest clubs.

City rivals Milan and Inter are both in search of a striker, and may be set to tussle for statistically one of football’s most clinical forwards, according to Sport Mediaset.

Hernandez’s contract with the Red Devils is set to expire in 2016, making him an attractive option for the financially wary Rossoneri and Nerazzurri.

The 26-year-old hit 13 league goals in his debut season in England, but has only scored three since his move to La Liga.
