AC Milan’s current first choice centre back, Philippe Mexes, is keen to remain at the San Siro.
The fiery French defender has a year left on his contract and would like to extend his stay with the Rossoneri.
“I hope I will renew my contract in the coming weeks,” Mexes said when speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb.
“I take things one day at a time and do not worry too much about the future.
“It would, however, be nice for me and my family to clear the situation up soon, so we know where we stand.
Discussing the weekend’s match with rivals Inter, the player said: “We did not play well against them in the derby.
“There was disappointment in the dressing room as we all knew that we could have done better.
“But it was important that we did not lose and now we are looking to earn as many points as we can until the end of the season.”
