AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi spoke ahead of Sunday’s derby clash against Inter, stating that he and team feel invigorated by president Silvio Berlusconi’s visit.

Silvio Berlusconi reportedly visited Milanello on Saturday morning, ahead of Sunday’s Derby della Madonnina, when he met with Adriano Galliani and Inzaghi over lunch.

Inzaghi spoke about his enthusiasm for the derby and his confident after the AC Milan president’s visit, conveying his bullish mood for Sunday’s clash.

“There will be a derby between Mancini and myself, but there will also be a [more important] derby between AC Milan and Inter,” Inzaghi said in his pre-match press conference.

“The presence of president Berlusconi is important and his words and charisma can make a difference. I am reinvigorated and take this [enthusiasm] to my team, hoping to repay the president’s faith.

“I have always been empowered by the president’s words, and now I want to see an AC Milan who are the protagonist and want to win.

“With his [Berlusconi] leadership, AC Milan can return to the top and I hope to dedicate the victory to him.

“We know Inter, they are a good team with good offensive players and a great ability to possess the ball; we will have to impose our game.”

Inzaghi concluded his press conference by giving information on some of the players who were doubtful for the derby game against Inter.

“We are well since we recovered several players over the course of the week,” Inzaghi said.

“[Mattia] Destro trained yesterday and we will reevaluate him today.

“On the right I have [Alessio] Cerci, [Keisuke] Honda, and Suso; for the left I can choose [Giacomo] Bonaventura or [Jeremy] Menez; the strikers are fine too with [Giampaolo] Pazzini, Menez and hopefully Destro all available.”
