AC Milan’s misfiring striker Mattia Destro is unlikely to stay at the club beyond his current loan deal, as his form since joining in January has yet to convince club directors.

The ex-Siena striker is owned by rivals Roma, but due to lack of playing time at the Stadio Olimpico was snapped up by Rossoneri coach Filippo Inzaghi to help spearhead his attack which has been overly reliant on Frenchman Jeremy Menez.

However, according to the Corriere Dello Sport, Destro will almost certainly return to Rome at the end of the current campaign as Milan have asked to halve the agreed transfer fee from €16 million to €8 million which would have made a move to the San Siro permanent.

The report suggests that the Giallorossi are not keen on negotiating and may prefer to bring the player back and evaluate the situation during the off-season.

Destro has only found the net twice since becoming a Milan player at the start of the year.
