AC Milan v Genoa – Preview: Rossoneri in crisis

AC Milan face Genoa on Wednesday evening at 20:45 at the Stadio Meazza hoping to bounce back after their 2-1 defeat at Udinese on Saturday afternoon.

Genoa will look to push on after they convincingly beat Cesena 3-1 at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Sunday afternoon.

In the last 19 matches the two teams have played the Rossoneri have won 11, with Genoa winning three and five ending in draws.

Genoa also go into the game without ever winning any of these games at the San Siro, with all three victories coming at home. Milan have also won seven of the nine games played at home.

Earlier on in the season, Genoa defeated Milan 1-0 thanks to a goal from Luca Antonelli – who is now playing on the opposing side.

When the two teams last faced in Milan, the match ended in a 1-1 draw with Kaka and Alberto Gilardino grabbing the goals.

The home side will be looking to win this game as their recent form sees them slide down the table, as oppose to the form of the Grifone.

Milan are without a win in the last three matches, drawing with Inter and Sampdoria and losing 2-1 at Udinese in the last match. Their last win came away at Palermo where goals from Alessio Cerci and Jeremy Menez secured a 2-1 win.

Genoa have only lost one game in their last four as they were defeated 2-1 by Palermo. They beat Cesena 3-1 and Parma and Cagliari 2-0 at home in the other three matches.

The Milanese club are without seven players, with six injuries and one doubtful. Stephan El Shaarawy, Michael Essien, Riccardo Montolivo, Michele Agazzi, Hachim Mastour and Alex are all injured whilst Cristian Zaccardo is a doubt.

Genoa could also be without seven players with four ruled out and three doubts. The injured contingent include Luca Antonini, Marco Borrielo, Alberto Costa and Lorenzo Ariaudo. The doubtful players are Andrea Bertolacci, Mattia Perin and Giovanni Marchese.
