Goalscorer Khouma Babacar certified that Fiorentina have their eyes fixed on winning the Europa League, after earning a vital draw away to Dynamo Kiev in the quarter finals on Thursday night.

Despite showing clear signs of dominance early on in the game, it was Fiorentina who found themselves chasing the game after a deflected effort from Jeremain Lens put Dynamo in front.

Substitute Babacar managed to salvage the game with a crucial away goal in the final minute, though the Senegalese striker put the goal down to hard work by his team.

“This was an important game and the team gave absolutely everything, I’m happy to have scored, but I play for the team,” Babacar said to Mediaset Premium.

“[Vincenzo] Montella told me to just give my best and then sooner or later we would get a goal.”

With a recent dip in form from Fiorentina, who hadn’t scored in their past two fixtures, it will come as a relief to the side to return to Florence with an away goal in hand ready for the next leg.

“It was an impossible concept to lose this game,” Babacar reflected. “Now we want to fight to get to the final.”
