Barcelona are continuing to track Inter starlet Mateo Kovacic and are preparing a transfer deal involving two of their own players in an attempt to lower the Nerazzurri’s valuation of the Croatian midfielder.

With creative stalwarts Xavi and Andrés Iniesta reaching the end of their careers, the Catalan giants are in the market for long term solutions for their midfield department and view the 20-year-old as an ideal addition.

According to Tuttosport, Inter value Kovacic at between €35-40 million, but the publication reports that Roberto Mancini would be in favour of the inclusion of Pedro and Alex Song in any deal. Both players are surplus to requirements at the Camp Nou but would be suitable for the 4-2-3-1 formation which Mancini intends to implement next season.

However, any transfer will not be completed until January 2016 at the earliest when Barcelona’s current FIFA sanctioned transfer ban comes to an end.
