AC Milan and Inter are set to do battle for the signature of Cameroonian midfielder Alexandre Song who has been deemed surplus to requirements at Barcelona.

The 27-year-old has impressed on loan at West Ham United this season, but he has no long term future in Catalonia and will be available for a transfer during the summer window.

Corriere dello Sport reports that Song’s agent Darren Dein attended Milan’s 3-1 defeat to Genoa on Wednesday evening after arriving in the city to hold talks with both the Rossoneri and the Nerazzurri.

The publication understands that Inter are currently leading the race to sign the former Arsenal schemer, but it believes that Milan could have an edge over their city rivals because of their relationship with new Barcelona director of sport Ariedo Braida who spent 28 years at the club.

Song joined Barcelona from Arsenal in 2012, but only made 39 appearances for the Blaugrana before temporarily moving to East London in the summer.
