Rafael Benitez NapoliNapoli coach Rafa Benitez is determined to lead his team to Europa League glory after reaching the semi-finals.

The Partenopei completed a 6-3 aggregate triumph over Wolfsburg on Thursday evening and Benitez has expressed his great satisfaction in making it through to the last four.

“I am happy to achieve this important milestone,” said Benitez during an interview with the club’s official website.

“Congratulations to the boys, who were sensational over the two legs.

“We were great in the return leg. The guys gave maximum effort and played wonderfully well to win this semi-final.

“I’m also happy for all Neapolitans for them to be able to see Napoli doing so well on the international stage.

“The first leg result was decisive and allowed us to finish the job tonight [Thursday].”

The 55-year-old also felt his team had overcome a tough opponent in the shape of German Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, despite the comfortable three-goal margin of their victory.

“The team were disciplined and could have won,” continued Benitez.

“We are unhappy that we conceded twice [in the second leg], but I must say that it’s understandable that we tried not to use up too much energy, given the first leg result was in our favour.

“Wolfsburg are a strong team, and we shouldn’t forget that. We, again, we were sensational.”
