Genoa midfielder Andrea Bertolacci has played down talk of a European spot following Sunday’s 3-1 win over Cesena at Stadio Luigi Ferraris, insisting that he and his teammates will take each game as it comes.

Bertolacci opened the scoring for the Grifone and admitted that Genoa are expecting a tough battle to secure a Europa League spot and must not get ahead of themselves, despite sitting three points off city-rivals Sampdoria, who occupy fifth place.

“We have difficult games ahead of us, we have two tricky trips to AC Milan and Roma,” Bertolacci told Sky Sport.

The midfielder, co-owned by Roma, insisted that the Rossoblu can not afford to slip up, particularly with so six games remaining.

“We expect six finals from here until the end of the season,” he said. There aren’t many fixtures left but we will try to give our best and take whatever comes.”
