Zdenek Zeman, coach of Sardinian side Cagliari, has reportedly left the club just weeks after having been re-instated at the helm of the Rossoblu.

The former Roma boss, who leaves the Isolani sitting second from bottom in Serie A, took over at the start of the campaign but was sacked in December last year after a poor set of early results and replaced by Gianfranco Zola.

However, the ex-Watford manager was unable to improve matters and was also relieved of his duties with Zeman returning in March to try and save the team from a return to Serie B.

According to reports in L’Unione Sarda, ‘Il Boemo’ has today handed in his resignation citing a breakdown in relationship with his players who no longer want to play for him. “The team doesn’t want to follow me anymore,” he told the media outlet. “Now it’s down to everyone else to take some responsibility.

“I’ve done my part and resigned my post.”

Cagliari are nine points away from safety in the standings, with just seven matches remaining to play.
