Cesena face fellow relegation strugglers Chievo at the Stadio Dino Manuzzi in Sunday afternoon’s early Serie A kick-off.

The Seahorses kept their slim survival hopes alive last weekend as they fought back from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 at Verona, leaving Cesena four points away from safety and 17th place Atalanta.

With back to back away trips to the two Genoa based clubs coming up before a crucial home match against Atalanta, the game against Chievo has huge significance for Cesena.

Chievo, meanwhile, failed to make it three wins in a row last weekend against Sassuolo.

The Flying Donkeys were unable to make the most of Sassuolo going down to ten man, as an early Domenico Berardi penalty ensured defeat for Chievo.

Rolando Maran’s men are in 16th place but are 10 points above Cesena and victory at the weekend would almost certainly secure their Serie A status for another season.

Earlier on in the season Chievo beat Cesena 2-1 in Verona thanks to a last minute winner from Sergio Pellissier.

Cesena coach Domenico Di Carlo has to deal with numerous injuries including those to Guido Marilungo and Andrea Tabanelli, both of whom will miss the match.

Chievo also have problems with the fitness of both Perparim Hetemaj and Valter Birsa in doubt ahead of the crucial game.
