Inter full-back Danilo D’Ambrosio said that the Nerazzurri should have been awarded a penalty and won against AC Milan in Sunday’s Derby della Madonnina.

The Nerazzurri dominated the 0-0 draw with the Rossoneri on Sunday night and they might have won the match if referee Luca Banti had awarded a penalty, after AC Milan left-back Luca Antonelli handled the ball.

“AC Milan did little in the first half and nothing in the second,” D’Ambrosio told the Inter Channel.

“They are two lost points. The referee made a mistake, the penalty in my opinion was very clear but it can happen. It is useless to be angry.”

Inter are now in 10th place on the Serie A table after 31 rounds but D’Ambrosio is optimistic about the Nerazzurri’s chances of playing in Europe.

“On Saturday Roma will arrive and we have the need to test ourselves. Until then there is the possibility to achieve qualification for Europe [and] we can try for it,” he concluded.
