In what was a historic 2-1 victory for Torino over their rivals Juventus, goalscorer for the Granata Matteo Darmian has analysed the moment he equalised for his side in the 45th minute.
Despite the 25-year-old’s goal coming in slightly fortunate circumstances, it was an extremely key factor in Il Toro regaining a firm grasp upon the game.
“I made a mistake when controlling the ball before I scored,” said Darmian to Sky Sport Italia.
“And then when I got in front of goal I did not know whether to control the ball or to shoot.
“However when I saw that there was no one else to take it off me, I hit it with all of the energy I had and it went in.”
The Italian international has also spoken about what he believes his best position to be within the team, as well as giving a vague answer to a question regarding his future with Torino.
“Wherever I play I am always at the disposal of the team and the coach.
“On the right hand side I can put better crosses in because it is with my stronger foot, where as on the left I can focus on myself and try to finish off chances.
“Ultimately the decision is up to the coach.”
He continued: “As for my future; there are still six games left till the end of the season and I am concentrating solely on the finish.
“I cannot predict what will happen after that and for now I only want to celebrate this victory over Juventus.”
Come to Juve, please.
