Denis AtalantaAtalanta captain German Denis believes the experience of coach Edy Reja helped La Dea to come back and steal a late equaliser against Empoli.

The Bergamo club had been trailing Empoli going in to stoppage time, when a series of corners allowed El Tanque to snatch a last gasp equaliser for his side, which also marked his fourth goal in three games.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia shortly after the final whistle, Denis praised new coach Reja.

“We wanted to win,” the Argentine striker began.

“We are happy that we managed to equalise in what was a difficult game.”

The 69-year-old coach introduced Rolando Bianchi and Marco D’Alessandro late on, as the Nerazzurri pushed for an equalising goal, and Denis believes it was Reja’s experience that got them back into the game.

“I think the experience of Mr. Reja helped us,” Denis said.

“He made a big change.

“Now we think about Cesena and must continue like this until the end.”

Denis has scored eight Serie A goals so far this season, with four of these coming in his last three games.
