Following a spirited 2-2 draw with Empoli on Sunday afternoon, Parma coach Roberto Donadoni has insisted that his side are determined to avoid finishing last in Serie A.

It has been a difficult season for the Ducali, whose league campaign has been severely affected by the club’s horrendous off-field financial problems, but the result against the Azzurri means that Parma have now lost only once in their last five matches.

“Today we saw evidence of our willingness to fight to the end despite the defeat on Wednesday [to Genoa],” Donadoni explained to Rai Sport on the full time whistle.

“It’s just a shame that we conceded a couple of silly goals too easily.

“In the first half we were very good, but perhaps too fancy. In the second period we believed more and were also helped by a tailwind. In the end we took home a result which could have been better.

“We have so many games in front of us and we will try to honor the championship until the end. We do not want to finish the tournament in last place.”

Despite their recent run of form, Parma remain rock bottom of Serie A, eight points behind 19th placed Cagliari who have a game in hand.
