Following FIFA’s abolition of their own register of sports agents, the FIGC has issued a statement laying out its policies.

The international body has declared that each individual national association will have to introduce their own registers as of April 2015.

The FIGC statement clarified exactly what would be required for those who wish to operate as an agent in Italy.

“The regulation implements the new standards desired by FIFA,” read the statement, “and is similar to that adopted by other European federations, with whom we have been working in recent months in order to harmonise the different national standards.”

“As approved by FIFA,” it continued, “we have abolished the tests that were required in order to become a sports agent, and instead remains subject only to entry on a register kept by the FIGC, along with a commitment to upholding the rules and to meet specific personal requirements.”

The removal of the exams that were required in order to join the agents’ register means that anybody with an impeccable public record is able to register as a football agent.
