Time has apparently been called on Fiorentina’s Mario Gomez, as the club start to look for a new striker to replace the misfiring German.

Gomez has been a spectacular failure in Serie A since his €20 million move from Bayern Munich in 2013, finding the net just seven times in two seasons and it appears the Viola’s patience has finally run out.

According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Fiorentina officials have started to turn their attention towards three Italians who might be available at the end of the current campaign.

Borussia Dortmund striker Ciro Immobile looks certain to leave the German club after failing to recapture last season’sscoring form from Torino and Mattia Destro is unlikely to see his loan move from Roma to AC Milan become permanent.

The third possibility is Simone Zaza who, should Juventus decide against bringing him back to Turin, find himself playing at the Stadio Artemio Franchi if a deal can be struck.
