Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade conceded that the Tuscan side endured a difficult evening in the first leg of their Europa League quarter final with Dynamo Kiev, which ended 1-1.

A last gasp equaliser from Khouma Babacar at the NSC Olimpiyskiy in Kiev earned La Viola a share of the spoils, but Prade admitted it could have been a very different story.

“Tonight was particularly challenging,” he acknowledged to FiorenzaViola.it after the match. “We played an incredible game but almost went home empty handed.

“The choreography [before the game] and the cheering was incredible and we ran the risk of going 2-0 down on the break. We wanted a reaction and there was one, so well done to the boys.”

Prade then went on to state that he hopes Babacar will sign an extension to his current contract which ends in June 2016.

“Babacar did well, and we hope to be close to a contract extension,” he said. “He’s a guy that we put a great deal of emphasis on and will always have time for.”

Fiorentina will face Dynamo Kiev again on April 23 in the second leg of the quarter final at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
