Former AC Milan playmaker Manuel Rui Costa has reminisced about his memories of the Derby della Madonnina against Inter ahead of their 162nd meeting in Serie A.
The Portuguese playmaker highlighted the games during the 2002-03 season when speaking alongside former Inter forward Ivan Zamorano in a face-to-face interview.
“I was fortunate enough to play in many derbies, 14 in total,” Rui Costa told FCInterNews.it.
“If I had to pick what was my best memories, I would say that they are tied to the semi finals of the Champions League in 2002-03.
“The double header enabled us to play against Juventus in the final and win the cup.
“This was the biggest ‘gift’ that the matches between Inter and AC Milan had given me.
“In addition, I have not forgotten that we also won 1-0 [in Serie A that season] with a goal from Pippo [Filippo Inzaghi] after one of my assists.”
