Genoa coach Gian Piero Gasperini has stated that Sunday opponents Palermo are not only composed of frontmen Paulo Dybala and Franco Vazquez, who have scored 20 goals between them this season.

The Grifone are undefeated in their last three games, and whilst praising his former employers, Gasperini also went to praise his players.

“Winning whilst performing well boosts our morale,” Gasperini said. “The players are very committed.

“It’s an important game for us.”

Genoa, who have 44 points with eight games remaining, have the same amount points as they did in the whole of the 2013/2014 season, and Gasperini said that it is a sign of improvement.

“The reason we have the same amount of points now as we did last season is that the team has got stronger,” he said. “I’m satisfied with what we’ve done this season.

“Climbing up the table? It’s difficult but if we keep performing like this then we can do it because other teams are bound to slip up.”

Finally, the former Palermo boss praised his former side, as well as judging between Rosanero forward Dybala and Genoa forward Diego Perotti.

“Palermo are a well-constructed side and they showed that with their results in many games,” he said. “It’s not only a team composed of [Paulo] Dybala and [Franco] Vazquez, everything is evenly-distributed.

“I coached both Dybala and Perotti. They are really good players, both efficient and consistent.”
