Inter and AC Milan played out a 0-0 draw in Sunday night’s Derby della Madonnina in Serie A at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Both sides had goals disallowed; AC Milan defender Philippe Mexes could’ve had a goal and an own goal to his name, but both were flagged for fouls to signal a second consecutive draw in the derby.

Hernanes was the one who started things off in the Derby della Madonnina, when his long-range belter was arduously kept out by Milan goalkeeper Diego Lopez.

Next it was Suso who lifted the San Siro crowds from their seats, the Spaniard’s shot however was kept out by the ever-present Samir Handanovic.

Inter had a great chance to score soon after when they were awarded a free-kick just outside the penalty area, but Hernanes fired his shot over the bar.

The Rossoneri soon had a goal disallowed, when Brazilian defender Alex latched onto a Suso free-kick before the ball fell to Philippe Mexes who made no mistake from close range; however, the Brazilian was deemed to have fouled Danilo D’Ambrosio.

Giacomo Bonaventura did well to round is man and whip a cross into the box, but Nerazzurri captain Andrea Ranocchia was able to clear the ball away from danger.

The start of the second half could’ve witnessed a goal from Argentine international Rodrigo Palacio who ran in behind the defence, rounded Diego Lopez, before his finish hit Mexes’ back.

Inter soon had a penalty appeal denied when Mauro Icardi’s strike hit Luca Antonelli’s hand, however the referee waved for play to continue.

The Nerazzurri thought they had gone 1-0 up when Mexes put through his own net; however, the goal was later called off for a Palacio foul on Antonelli.

It was Il Biscione who came close to scoring once again, this time Hernanes’ cross went across the face of goal.

It was all Inter at that point, Juan Jesus was next to try his luck, but his long-range effort was kept out by Lopez.

Lopez was once again called into action, this time he denied Palacio from close range, after the Argentine attempted to redirect Joel Obi’s long-range shot.

D’Ambrosio was next to come close to making it 1-0 Inter, this time his stinging left-footed effort went well over the bar.

The Rossoneri could’ve had a goal five minutes from time when Jeremy Menez went through on goal, but his shot was saved by Handanovic.

Mauro Icardi could’ve won the game for Roberto Mancini’s men late on in the game when he latched onto Xherdan Shaqiri’s through ball, but his half-volley went wide.

    Not really giants anymore…

milan was lucky. what i don’t get it is pippo face after the game ends, as if he earned something. if this kinda of lackluster performance enough to satisfy him, his milan side will not gain anything in the league. although that’s obvious by now.
