Inter captain Andrea Ranocchia has apologised for his side’s 0-0 draw with AC Milan on Sunday night in the Derby della Madonnina.
The Nerazzurri, who sit in 10th place, had a goal disallowed and wasted many chances to score, and the Italian international pointed out that his side were denied a clear penalty when Mauro Icardi’s shot hit the arm of Luca Antonelli.
“We wanted to win tonight, I apologise,” he said. “We had many chances to score, and we were denied a penalty, such errors should not be present.
“We had the ball for most of the game and we were the more dangerous side, but we failed to score – which is the biggest upset.
“Had we played every game like we did tonight, we would be in a completely different position.
“We must honor the Inter shirt, because it deserves to be honored.”
