Inter are linked with Fiorentina’s Mario Gomez, should they eventually decide to cash in on Mauro Icardi during the upcoming summer transfer window.
As speculation of the Argentine forward’s future at Inter continues to increase, the trend to connect the Nerazzurri with possible replacements continues, this time with Fiorentina target-man.
Reports from La Nazione suggest that should Icardi depart, then coach Roberto Mancini could look towards the German International.
Gomez’s Fiorentina stint has been very stop-start, only managing to perform for the Viola faithful for a few shorts games before being kept out by a knee injury.
Although he has only shown signs of returning to his best recently, it is likely that Mancini still admires the striker’s rich goal-scoring history and experience.
However it remains extremely unlikely that Fiorentina would be willing to let him go, especially after the player himself recently expressed his utmost desire to stay and end his career in Tuscany.
So far this season Mario Gomez has scored nine goals, additionally providing four assists.
