Inter are reportedly ready to battle Arsenal for the signature of Manchester City midfielder James Milner this summer.

The 29-year-old, whose current contract with the Citizens is set to expire in June, has been heavily linked with a move away from the reigning Premier League champions in recent months with an extension looking unlikely and several teams are apparently interested in landing him, though the Gunners and the Nerazzurri are seen as the favourites to secure his services.

According to the London Evening Standard, the English international would prefer to sign a renewal with Manchester City, but his desire to land a four-year contract may force him to choose between the London club and the Serie A side at the end of the season instead.

Reports also suggest that Milner may favour a move to Arsenal despite his history and past success with Inter boss Roberto Mancini.

The midfielder has scored three goals and provided seven assists in his 27 Premier League appearances this term thus far.
