Filippo Inzaghi AC MilanAC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi said that he can’t imagine the club without Silvio Berlusconi as president.

The Rossoneri coach identified the upcoming fixture against Udinese as an important one as he seeks to improve the side’s consistency as they remain in with an outside shot at Europa League qualification.

“We know that the Udinese game will be very important for us,” said Inzaghi at the pre-match press conference.

“We are looking to play as a team and this will give us more consistency.

“Lately we have been playing well in tight games.

“To pick up three points tomorrow could be important for the squad’s morale and the position in the table.”

Inzaghi also spoke about the squad’s mindset amidst the rumours surrounding the club’s ownership.

“I see a squad that is focused and not at all distracted by the rumours surrounding the ownership,” said Inzaghi.

“We are preparing ourselves to the best of our ability and I hope we can speak for ourselves on the pitch.”

The 41-year-old though went on to admit that the squad needs to improve and become more consistent.

“I want to give consistency to the team,” said Inzaghi.

“We know that every game is a final for us and we need to accept what happens on the pitch.

“The three points will be fundamental. We could have done more in January and February but we are improving at the moment even if we can always improve our performances.”

Inzaghi then paid tribute to president Berlusconi amidst all the rumours suggesting that he will leave the club in the near future.

“It’s not my place to talk, but I don’t believe that anyone can imagine a Milan with our Berlusconi,” said Inzaghi.

“He made the club great and one of the most successful in the world.”

The former striker was also asked about on-loan Roma striker Mattia Destro and Alessio Cerci after Destro’s agent claimed the Rossoneri weren’t good enough to keep his client.

“I will not comment on the comments made by the agent as Mattia [Destro] has already clarified his thoughts,” said Inzaghi.

“The two have played well when called upon.

“We have six strikers in the squad but only space for three on the pitch and the others have to be ready to step in.”

Inzaghi also spoke about Suso and admitted he is not yet sure whether he will play.

“He played well in the derby as would have [Keisuke] Honda or [Alessio] Cerci,” said Inzaghi.

“I have three players who play in that role and it’s never easy to choose one.

“They put me in difficulty every game and now I will evaluate which of the three will start.

“Only tomorrow morning will we decide how to start.”

Finally, Inzaghi paid tribute to Udinese coach Andrea Stramaccioni.

“We’re very good friends and we did our coaching courses together,” said Inzaghi.

“I have a good opinion of him, he prepares his teams well and intelligently and I support his sides when they’re not playing against us.”
