Inter president Erick Thohir spoke after his team’s 0-0 draw in the Derby della Madonnina on Sunday evening in Serie A, irate at the refereeing decisions that saw his side denied a win.

The most controversial incident came in the second half, when Philippe Mexes’ own-goal was chalked off after Rodrigo Palacio was adjudged to have committed a foul in the build-up.

Thohir praised his team’s performances and maintained that it was only the referee who prevented them from sealing a deserved win.

“We did not win but it is the fault of neither the coach nor the players,” Thohir said on Inter Channel.

“We were unlucky and came close to scoring on numerous occasions.

“The refereeing? [FIGC president Carlo] Tavecchio was there and saw what happened.”
