Massimiliano Allegri has admitted that he was nervous about becoming coach of Juventus.

The former AC Milan coach took over from Antonio Conte last summer and Allegri is happy with how the team has done since.

“When I first accepted the job I was afraid and nervous.” Allegri told Juventus fans in a Q&A on Twitter.

“I was unsure whether I would be able to win over the fans and get into their hearts.

“I try to work with the respect of the fans and I believe that I have won over people here.

“There is a lot of pressure with my job, but I enjoy the challenge

“There is also a great responsibility that comes with being at such a big club but the pros outweigh the cons.

“I remember growing up and idealising the great Juventus players such as [Michel] Platini and [Dino] Zoff.

“The Juventus stadium is unique. It helps the team and the players to achieve great things.”

Allegri went on to talk about some of the players that has impressed him during his first season at Juve and the tasks ahead for the rest of the season.

“[Carlos] Tevez never ceases to amaze me, his work rate is amazing,” he said first of his star striker.

“[Paul] Pogba is the future of this club and he can lead us into a great era, he is a superb playmaker.

“[Roberto] Pereya has improved so much this season and he is a joy to work with.

“If there was one rule that I could change in football it would be the offside rule, it is not very clear.”

Looking to the season finale, Juventus are still in contention for the Coppa Italia and Champions League, with the Serie A title all but theirs.

“We can overturn our [2-1] first-leg deficit in the Coppa Italia [semi-final] against Fiorentina, we are Juventus and we can do anything,” he stated.

“I was always confident that we would do well in the Champions League.

“We put in a tremendous performance in Dortmund and got our rewards.

“Now we face Monaco which will be tough encounter despite what many people say.

“We must not stop now, we have not won Serie A and we still have plenty to do in both the Coppa Italia and the Champions League.”
