Manchester United’s Javier Hernandez is the latest striker to be linked with in form Lazio.

The 26-year-old Mexican international is on loan at Real Madrid from United but has struggled to make an impression.

According to Sport Mediaset, Hernandez is the main attacking target for Lazio, with a back up option being Italian international Graziano Pelle.

Hernandez’s potential arrival in Rome is thought to be seen as a necessary acquisition with Filip Djordjevic recovering from a serious foot injury, and Miroslav Klose reaching his automatic renewal of his contract, but his stay in the capital being by no means a certainty with his former club Kaiserslautern a possible finishing point for the poacher’s career.

The battle for Hernandez’s signature will be tough with Southampton, Stoke City, West Ham United and Everton all interested.

This season has seen Hernandez make only one start for Real Madrid as well as 14 substitute appearances, scoring just three goals.
