Marco Parolo and Stefan de Vrij picked up injuries in Lazio’s impressive 4-0 victory over Empoli on Sunday at the Stadio Olimpico and may miss Saturday’s big clash at Juventus Stadium.

Lazio’s eighth consecutive match without a loss in Serie A catapults the Biancocelesti into second place past Roma but they may have trouble maintaining their form without two key stalwarts.

Parolo came off the field in obvious pain in the second half and had difficulty breathing. The Azzurri midfielder was taken to the hospital immediately after the match.

“Parolo suffered a contusion on his right side and we’ll have to see the X-ray to determine if there’s a fracture of the rib,” Lazio doctor Roberto Bianchini told Lazio Style Radio after the match.

Dutch defender de Vrij came off in the first half with a knock to his left knee and was substituted by Diego Novaretti who will miss the Juventus match as the Argentine picked up two yellow cards in the space of 20 minutes.

“[de Vrij] sprained the outside of his knee and it’s a situation where we don’t want to under or overestimate the problem without getting the results from the X-ray,” Bianchini added.

The Bianconeri are unbeaten at home, winning 13 of their 15 matches while Lazio have amassed the third best record away from the Stadio Olimpico this season.
