Chievo head coach Rolando Maran has spoken of the upcoming game against Cagliari as vital in securing themselves a position in next season’s Serie A.
The Gialloblu host a Cagliari side who will be confident after picking up a remarkable win away at Fiorentina over the weekend to give themselves an outside chance of avoiding the drop, and the head coach is keen to end the relegation conversation as soon as possible.
“We have to look at ourselves at home and secure our salvation as soon as possible,” Maran told reporters at his pre-match press conference.
“Tomorrow’s game will be critical to this, we are close to our goal although we never look at the table and we still don’t.
“We have been on an incredible run and I’m very happy for the guys.
“I would have been happier if I had to speak about this more often throughout the season.
“On Sunday Cagliari proved to be a good side and found a solidity in a short space of time.
“It will be a difficult game because we know what it means to gun for important points.”
