Sampdoria coach Sinisa Mihajlovic admitted Sampdoria’s 0-0 draw against Cesena on Saturday in Serie A felt like a defeat, as his team dropped two valuable points in their battle for a European place.

Cesena occupy 18th place in Serie A and are currently fighting for survival, but the Serbian coach expected to secure maximum points at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

“It was a game we had to win,” Mihajlovic told Sky Sport Italia.

“We created chances on at least 20 occasions, unfortunately we were not good enough, and this draw is almost like a defeat. If we continue to play like this, we do not need to worry.

“We have to win games, especially at home, so I fielded all our available attackers. We were unlucky not to score.

“A team like ours must look ahead. Now we think about the next match, we have our destiny in our own hands. We must continue in this spirit, perhaps improving in front of goal.”
