Fiorentina head Vincenzo Montella has emphasized that his team must get back on the winning track in order to reach the Europa League spots.

The Viola are currently struggling to put together results, with a recent defeat against Napoli in Serie A and a disappointing draw to Dynamo Kiev in the Europa League downing team’s spirits.

“We want Europe,” Montella stated during his pre-match press conference.

“There is a possibility that we can reach our goal of the Europa League without playoffs, as those are best avoided.”

Speaking of the team’s upcoming match against Hellas Verona, the coach also revealed that Fiorentina must be cautious during the game.

“Verona are a team that has played with the same style for years; they defend well and start strong. We must have balance, hunger, and quality [to beat them].

“I have not yet decided who will play tomorrow. [David] Pizarro is not in the best condition, we will see tomorrow. [Frederico] Bernardeschi is fine and at full fitness.

“[Ciprian] Tatarusanu will be called up, but he is not yet at 100%. [Mario] Gomez is also available to us and will not be a problem.

“[Khouma] Babacar? He is a player that needs attention and support, and sometimes you must be indifferent [in choosing the squad].”

Lastly, Montella concluded by saying that the team “deserved the draw” against Dynamo Kiev, after being behind for most of the game only for Babacar’s fantastic goal to save the team in stoppage time.
