Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella has conceded that Juventus fully deserved to go through to the Coppa Italia final after they overturned a 2-1 home defeat by beating Fiorentina 3-0 in Florence on Tuesday night.

The Bianconeri thus will now play Napoli or Lazio in the final, and while acknowledging that Juventus were the better side, Montella voiced his concern over Mohamed Salah’s disallowed goal early on in the game.

“Juventus are a good team and we knew the first leg was only one half of the contest,” Montella told Rai Sport.

“Juventus deserved the win even if they were lucky for periods. I am not referring only to our goals which were canceled, but also to our rebounds. I am puzzled by the decision to cancel Salah’s strike, but Juve deserved to go through.

“We played with pride. It’s a shame, but we accept the outcome. I’m sorry for our fans, who were behind us even when we were 3-0 down. This encourages us for our next matches in both Serie A and the Europa League.

“There is bitterness but there are no regrets. Congratulations to Juventus but we did our best.”
