ConteItalian national team coach Antonio Conte has been voted as the overwhelming favourite amongst Napoli fans to take over at the end of the season if current boss Rafael Benitez leaves the club.

The Spanish coach is under pressure following a poor run of form which has seen the Partenopei record only two victories in their last ten games.

Moreover, the 54-year-old’s contract expires in June and he is yet to enter in negotiations with the club hierarchy over a renewal, further casting doubt over whether he will still be on the Stadio San Paolo bench next term.

Sky Sport Italia reports that a recent survey asked Napoli supporters who they would like to see replace Benitez should the former Liverpool manager walk away from Naples.

Conte won the poll by some distance but there are major doubts over president Aurelio De Laurentiis’s ability to convince the 45-year-old to walk away from the Azzurri.

Other candidates who have recently been linked with the position include Sampdoria’s Sinisa Mihajlovic, Fiorentina’s Vincenzo Montella and Luciano Spalletti who is currently without a club following a spell in charge of Zenit Saint Petersburg.
