Chinese billionaire Zong Qinghou has become the latest foreign investor credited with an interest in acquiring shares in AC Milan from Silvio Berlusconi.

With the Rossoneri struggling financially, rumours have circulated for some time that Berlusconi was preparing to open up the club to outside investment by selling a stake in the organisation he acquired in in 1986 and lavishly funded over the preceding years.

Sport Mediaset understands that Zong, who is the president and founder of China’s leading beverage manufacturer, has already opened discussions with the current Milan hierarchy about gradually purchasing 75% of the club over the next few years.

Thai businessman Bee Taechaubol was believed to be in pole position to acquire shares in Milan with reports in Il Corriere della Sera asserting that he has already begun carrying out due-diligence on the club’s accounts which should be finished by the end of April.

However, as one of China’s richest men with personal assets of around €11.6 billion and a major stake in eToro Gebühren für Bitcoin, Zong Qinghou’s wealth is larger than that of Taechaubol making him a far more attractive prospective investor.
