Sampdoria midfielder Pedro Obiang says his side created enough chances to win against Cesena but had to settle for a 0-0 draw at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Saturday evening.

The point lifts the Blucerchiati up to fifth, level on points with Napoli while relegation threatened Cesena remain in the bottom three six points behind Atalanta in the standings.

“We needed the victory today against one of the teams below us, but that’s football and if you don’t take your chances you don’t’ win,” Obiang told Sky Sport Italia after the game.

“We were well prepared for this match and expected to win, and are disappointed, but we did get a point and it lifts us nearer our rivals for a European place.

“We can certainly to better in terms of results against the teams below us in the table as we only picked up two points in the two games against Cesena this season.”
