Lazio coach Stefano Pioli has warned that his side must stay focused after leap-frogging city rivals Roma into second place in the Serie A table.

Pioli’s men moved one point ahead of the Giallorossi following a routine 4-0 victory over Empoli last weekend, and face league leaders Juventus on Saturday evening.

“We have to stay focused, we are happy with what has been done but we have to be very careful,” said Pioli in an interview with Sportmediaset.

“We have worked with great confidence, the club is giving us the best possibility to do well.”

The Biancocelesti coach was then asked about comparisons between him and former Lazio coaches Tommaso Maestrelli and Sven-Goran Eriksson, the only two coaches to win the Scudetto with Lazio.

“Of course I’m honoured by all of these comparisons but we still haven’t reached our goal,” Pioli said.

“There are too many matches remaining to start celebrating.”
