Atalanta coach Edy Reja has stressed the importance of Sunday’s Serie A clash with Empoli in his pre-match press conference.

Both sides come into the game sitting a comfortable distance outside of the relegation zone, and a win for La Dea would see them all but confirm their Serie A status for another year.

“Tomorrow will be decisive,” Reja said at his press conference.

“With a win, we can move closer to safety, but if we lose, we are right back in trouble again.”

The 69-year-old coach dismissed the belief that it would be an easy game for his side, despiteĀ the Azzurri beingĀ almost guaranteed safety.

“Empoli are almost safe, but they will be in Bergamo to give us a game and it will not be easy,” he said.

“Empoli are the surprise package of Serie A this year and Maurizio Sarri is the coach of the moment.

“They are organised brilliantly and have a lot of very technically gifted players.

“It will not be easy,” he concluded.

Atalanta go into the match sitting in 17th place in Serie A, four points behind Empoli and seven above Cagliari in 18th.
