Roma could be about to start their summer transfer activity with a swoop for Marseille winger Andre Ayew, who has under three months left on his contract.

The Ghanaian international has courted interest from a number of clubs within Europe’s top five leagues, and Roma are apparently set to join the chasing pack by preparing an offer for the player.

Walter Sabatini, director of football at the Giallorossi, considers Ayew to be one of his main targets for the upcoming transfer window according to La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

The 25-year-old’s contract situation means that clubs outside of France can make legal approaches for the player in order to reach an arrangement once his current deal expires.

In addition to Roma’s Serie A rivals Inter, Ayew has also been linked with English Premier League trio Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton.

Ayew was announced as being the best African player in Ligue 1 by French Football on Tuesday.
