AC Milan legend Ruud Gullit expressed his doubts over club president Silvio Berlusconi leaving, though has beckoned foreign eyes towards Serie A.

With talk circulating about the future ownership of AC Milan, it has been heavily suggested that Berlusconi has looked to sell a large stake of the club to overseas investors; however, the former Gullit believes that Berlusconi won’t just walk away.

“If you look at clubs in England there are many foreign owners, this is definitely the future,” Gullit told Radio Sportiva.

“If there is any interest to buy a portion of the club then I think this will be a good thing, but I don’t think Berlusconi will completely leave AC Milan.

“He is the most successful president of all time and what he did [at the club] was an incredible thing. I hope he will stay.

“Nowadays there is the idea that [in Italian football] you have to bring all the players up from the youth teams. This is the right road, but it also takes a long time.”

With turmoil surrounding coach Filippo Inzaghi after a poor season, the former striker has been backed to continue his role as head coach by many, including Gullit himself.

“I don’t think that a team can continue changing coaches. Pippo is young and all he needs is time, something that wasn’t granted to [Clarence] Seedorf.

“He still needs to learn, but he is slowly moving forward.”
