Empoli coach Maurizio Sarri says he only met AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani once at the San Siro stadium and that was after his side had played there.

The Azzurri boss has been heavily linked to the Milan giants with speculation still rife that current Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi will be replaced at the end of the season with Sarri been one of a number of names been talked about to take the hot-seat for the 2015-2016 season.

“My contact with Milan? I met Galliani once in the locker room at the San Siro and I have not received any proposals indirectly,” Sarri told Radio Deejay.

“It’s become a bit of a fashion for clubs to go with inexperienced coaches and I hope this changes as they are a lot of experienced coaches that should be taken on their merits.

“As in all work experience is essential”.

The 56-year-old is enjoying a good season with the Tuscan side after they were expected to struggle but they sit eleven points clear of the relegation after round 29.

“It’s been a year full of unknowns,” he said. “None of us had the perception of what we could do.

“There was fear, fear in the sense that we hoped we could maintain the high levels of concentration needed.

“Now I hope the boys have the intelligence to maintain those high levels.”

Empoli travel to high-flying Lazio on Sunday afternoon hoping to but a dent in the Biancocelesti’s hopes of Champions League qualification.
