Empoli coach Maurizio Sarri spoke before his team’s Serie A clash against Parma, calling for a response from his players.
Empoli fell at the end of a stinging away loss to Lazio last weekend, when Sarri’s men were thoroughly outplayed in a 4-0 defeat to the high-flying Aquile.
Sarri spoke on Saturday morning, and stressed that he expects his team to bounce back against Parma come Sunday.
“I want a proof of great determination,” Sarri said in his pre-match press conference.
“The team has to go out on the field ready to suffer, as it will be a game [against Parma] where we will have to give answers after last week’s defeat [against Lazio].
“We will have to face a Parma side that took seven points from their last four games, and only lost to Genoa after beating Juventus and Udinese.
“Winning tomorrow would be a major step, as I expect this team to reach the 40-point barrier.”
Empoli are currently 15th in Serie A, on 33 points.
