Please feel free to leave a comment if you disagree with any of our choices.

Diego Lopez – AC Milan (4 Team of The Week appearances)

Were it not for Lopez in the Milan goal in the derby on Sunday, the Rossoneri would surely have lost the game. Made at least two world class saves, plus a string of others to deny Inter. Commanded his penalty area with confidence.

Gabriele Perico – Cesena

A solid defensive display from the full back. Offered little going forward but was effective at shutting down the double threat of Eder and Mesbah from Sampdoria’s left flank.

Team of the Week 31Leonardo Bonucci – Juventus (3 apps)

Crowded out Lazio danger man Felipe Anderson whenever the Brazilian had the ball and was never shy in going forward when the opportunity arose. The centre back also got on the score sheet, rifling in a shot from the edge of the box after an impressive run.

Alessio Romagnoli – Sampdoria (3 apps)

The on loan Roma defender easily coped with the threat posed by the Cesena forwards and was assured when in possession, making a number of incisive passes into midfield.

Djamel Mesbah – Sampdoria

The Algerian tried his best to assist the Sampdoria attack when possible and spent much of the game in the opposition half. He nearly and probably should have scored in the first half and linked up well with Eder down the left flank on several occasions.

Iyalo Chochev – Palermo

The Bulgarian grabbed the headlines ahead of star duo Paulo Dybala and Franco Vasquez with a well taken brace. He combined with the front duo superbly and also turned provider with a several through balls that could not be converted into goals.

Arturo Vidal – Juventus (3 apps)

He may not be performing at the levels of last season but the Chilean is still putting in decisive performances for his side. His all action style proved too much for the Lazio midfield and he also provided a neat assist for Carlos Tevez.

Marco Benassi – Torino (2 apps)

The youngster never stopped running and showed plenty of drive and energy. Nearly scored with a curling effort early on and regularly got up to support the strikers. Is not always the most refined when on the ball but has all the tools to have a solid Serie A career.

Ricardo Saponara – Empoli (2 apps)

The AC Milan loanee orchestrated nearly all of the Azzurri’s attacking moves and played countless creative passes during the course of the match. He also wasn’t afraid to get stuck in and do his defensive duties when needed.

Marek Hamsik – Napoli (3 apps)

The Slovakian followed up his superb performance against Wolfsburg in the Europa League with another stellar display. His through ball for Jose Callejon’s opener dissected the Cagliari defence perfectly and his teasing cross also lead to a goal for the Azzurri.

Paulo Dybala – Palermo (5 apps)

The Argentine did not score but was the creative spark for his side. He was heavily involved in the creation of both the Rosanero goals and also hit the bar with a thumping effort.
