AC Milan assistant coach Mauro Tassotti was quick to defend his side after many football pundits felt that the Rossoneri were not overly committed to win last night’s match against city rivals Inter.

The Derby della Madonnina ended goalless with many spectators feeling the Nerazzurri were more deserving of a victory.

“We wanted to win from the start,” he told the Milan Channel. “Despite us suffering in the second half we still brought on three attacking substitutes. For much of the first period we played well and also at the start of the second, but then Inter came out a little more.

“They are complaining about a penalty that should have gone against Luca Antonelli but the ball bounced up from a tackle and we’ve always been told by officials that they won’t give spot kicks for things like that.

“We can’t deny they had some great chances but towards the end it evened up a little and Mattia Destro had a great opportunity for us.”
